Allergy Season is Upon Us!

Allergies occur when the body has an exaggerated response to otherwise ordinary substances such as pollens, weeds, trees, molds, and dust mites. Allergies are thought to occur from exposure through the skin and airways in dogs and cats that are predisposed to them. Allergies are common in dogs and responsible for most of the itching, biting, redness, ear infections, and dry skin found in most Southern California pets. Allergies are far less common in the cat than dog but are the second most common skin disease in the cat. If your dog or cat is experiencing any signs of allergies please make an appointment to discuss ways to make your pets more comfortable.
